In 2005, after several years of practicing yoga, I realized that it might be time to clean my yoga mat. I started by deep cleaning it in my laundry room tub. After 30 minutes of soaking, swooshing and ringing, using way too much water and way too much time, I decided there had to be an easier, more earth-friendly method.
Working with aromatherapists and biologists, we developed the first and only 100% organic yoga mat cleanser which surpassed all of our expectations. The USDA certified organic citrus extract is gentle enough to protect your sticky mat, yet powerful enough to kill mold, fungus, e-coli, salmonella and more. We added USDA certified organic lavender essential oil for its refreshing scent and calming effects and USDA certified organic tea tree essential oil to increase the antibacterial properties of our yoga mat cleanser and to help boost your immune system.
Since developing Love My Mat™ 100% Organic Yoga Mat Cleanser our eyes have been opened to the need for organic and earth-friendly yoga products to encourage every yogi to lighten their footprint.
In 2009 we began sewing yoga mat bags using reclaimed materials from gently used tablecloths, curtains, linens and more. All bags are pre-washed in phosphate-free, 100% biodegradable detergent and are machine washable. Love My Mat™ Recycled Yoga Mat Bags are not only fashionable and functional, but eco-friendly, too.
To further reduce our waste we are now making Love My Mat™ Organic Flax & Lavender filled Eye Pillows with left over material from our yoga mat bags. I guess you could say these are "recycled, recycled eye pillows." With a matching, washable cover, our relaxing pillows are the perfect yoga accessory.
In 2011 we are introducing a new style of recycled yoga mat bag designed with instructors in mind. The Love My Mat™ Recycled Yoga Mat Tote Bag is 27" long by 19" deep so it can hold all your gear. Some added bonuses of the Tote Bag are the secure zipper pocket and the fact that they are reversible - it's like having 2 bags in one! Plus they are machine washable and dryable and eco-friendly just like all our products.
